Self assessment - tax doesn't have to be taxing

i was recently asked to help out on backgrounds at Cartoon Networks development studios in London, sadly i don't think i can post any images of the work (not just yet, anyway).
whilst i was there i had my very first go on a wacom tablet which felt very strange to me as i usually do everything by hand. Once the project was over i decided to practice at home using a borrowed intuos, the image above is my first attempt at producing something
with a tablet, i really enjoyed working this way even though i don't like the feeling on becoming reliant on applekey+z.

COMIC CON

i was kindly asked to contribute to a book called 'Treatment'
which will be shown at this years comic con,
being given the space to design what ever i wanted makes a welcome change and it also means i can finally finish at least one of the many small sketches i have lying around my desk.
i've been so caught up in other projects that i left this one to the last minute, i'm still deciding whether or not that was a wise move....

OXFORD PRESS
NIckelodeon magazine
footsteps on the roof...

Been really busy lately with a book for oxford press and i'm still working away at my first major childrens book for simon and schuster so i haven't had any time to post updates, now that these projects are moving along i can continue with updates,
the images above are 2 small pieces from my book with oxford press, a mythical tale based on native american folklore.
i'll post more images from the book shortly...

The very talented animator and etsy conqueror Julia pott has posted an article about my work on her new site dedicated to selections of artists and designers.
the site is called pop apricot and features some very nice work from a wide range of people
the link to my article can be found HERE
i also seriously recommend the following animation which i seem to have had on constant repeat for some time now.
Kirsten lepore and friends

Nickelodeon magazine

My cover design for nickelodeon magazine's comic book
available may 2009
this was a great project to work on, all of the people at nickelodeon magazine have been incredibly helpful and very nice about my illustrations,
i can't wait to work on a project with them again.
i'm particularly pleased with the lion sitting at the computer, his expression resembles my own after 2 days of solid computer work, slightly comotosed and distant
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT
My etsy shop is now up and running.
A3 PRINTS are available and my final remaining packs of postcards are also on sale

Rum and Meredith
little rum

another design sheet for my sea book,
this one features very early design ideas for the goldfish little rum.
they still need a lot of work as he isn't quite how i'm imagining
him to look like in my head.
but thats always been the case when i'm working.............
oh well, back to the drawing board... literally

UPDATED WEBSITE
another commission, this time a great request, someone wanted a giraffe drawn with thorny branches below and green leaves high up, personally i can't think of a more enjoyable commission.
the final image changed drastically color wise, but for the better, the decision to move away from the typical overly bright oranges/reds worked really well.

my attempt at a christmas card, the image is folded and then placed into a card which has holes in to lead the viewer around the poster before he/she opens it up to discover what's really happening.
i probably should have just drawn a reindeer on the front of a card to save time but i can't leave seem to leave anything simple, the extra time and energy was worth it i think, i hope so anyway
1924

My website has been updated with newer pieces and a small re-design.
also my first book 'the diver' won first place in the student category of the cheltenham illustration awards.......
nice to know those days locked away during last years summer were worth it.
Also the shop on my website is almost done, i will be selling framed prints at very cheap prices.
in the meantime just contact me via email if there are any pieces of artwork you would like.
